Pregnancy Massage in Northern Beaches
You’re growing a tiny human, and your body knows it. Settle into our pregnancy bolster, breathe out the heaviness, and feel properly held through every shift you notice.
No more sleepless nights from hip pain. No more swollen ankles that won’t settle. No more feeling like you have to “just deal with it” until baby arrives. Our pregnancy massage is your permission to feel comfortable again.

Pregnancy massage in Northern Beaches looks the same on most websites: a bit longer, a few cushions, gentle hands. At Atma, it’s a different conversation entirely. Sixteen years of work with pregnant bodies has shaped a session that goes deeper.
In practice, that means assessment first, then targeted hands-on work using our Power Touch® method, with a pregnancy bolster letting you lie face down safely from week 12.
Lower back ache from the new weight at the front, hips opening faster than they’re ready to, sciatic nerve flaring on long days, swelling in your ankles by evening, sore wrists from sleeping curled, shoulders rounded forward, ribs tight, calves cramping at night. Your therapist works through each area with the right pressure for your trimester, releases what’s holding tension, and lets your nervous system finally rest.
This is what pregnancy care looks like when it’s done properly: warm, slow, intelligent, and built around you. Book your session and feel the shift before you leave.
A trusted Northern Beaches name in pregnancy care
Atma opened its doors in Dee Why in 2008, founded by Saura Rates, a physiotherapist who saw a gap in the way pregnant women were being looked after across Sydney. Sixteen years on, mothers from Manly to Mona Vale, from Freshwater through to Frenchs Forest, walk through our doors at every stage of pregnancy. Many come back for postnatal recovery, then for their second baby.
Why mothers in the Northern Beaches keep returning here
You might be in your second trimester and finally noticing the weight. You might be days away from your due date, hunting relief from rib pain. You might be in week 12, nervous about what’s safe.
Pregnancy massage in Northern Beaches works across the whole journey. First-time mums coming in for that early reset, second-time mums who didn’t have time to book during the first pregnancy and refuse to make the same call again. Mums carrying twins. Mums with a history of lower back issues. Mums whose physio recommended us. Mums whose midwife said go early, go often.
Whatever brings you here, your therapist meets you where you are and works from there. No assumptions, no pressure.
Sciatica Relief
That sharp ache down one leg eases as your therapist works through the deep glutes and lower back, freeing the nerve so you can walk, stand and sleep without interruption.
Better Sleep
After your session, your shoulders drop, your jaw lets go, and your nervous system finally finds neutral. Most mothers tell us they sleep deeper that night than for weeks.
Less Swelling
Gentle lymphatic work along the legs, ankles and arms helps your body shift excess fluid out, leaving you lighter on your feet by evening rather than puffier by the hour.
Open Hips
Your hips are doing extraordinary work right now. Slow, supportive release through the deep hip rotators creates room where your body needs it most as your baby grows.
Calmer Mind
An hour with no phone, no requests, no decisions. Just breath, warmth and skilled hands. Many mothers say this is the only true pause they get all week, and they protect it.
Ready for Birth
In your last trimester, sessions tune your pelvis, soften the lower back, and prepare your body to do what it knows. You arrive at labour rested, not running on empty.

Atma sits on Pittwater Road in Dee Why, a fifteen-minute drive from Manly, ten from Brookvale, and a quick run down the coast from Collaroy and Narrabeen. For mothers across Northern Beaches, that puts skilled pregnancy massage genuinely close to home.
What sets pregnancy massage at Atma in Northern Beaches apart is the blend of physiotherapy training and hands-on bodywork. Saura built the Power Touch® method over years of working with prenatal and postnatal bodies, learning where pregnancy creates strain and how to release it without forcing anything. The bolster system means face-down work stays available right through the third trimester, which is rare across Sydney.
Power Touch® grew out of clinical practice, not a franchise model. Each technique earned its place by working on real mothers across hundreds of sessions. The result is a treatment that reads your body week by week, adjusts pressure in real time, and respects every change pregnancy brings to your skin and ligaments.
You leave lighter through the legs, freer in the hips, calmer in the chest, and clearer in your head. That’s the Atma standard, every visit.
Our frequently asked questions
From what week of pregnancy can I book?
Most mothers come to us from week 12 onwards, once the first trimester settles. We’ll always work alongside your treating doctor or midwife if there’s anything specific to consider, and your first session begins with a chat about your pregnancy so far, what your body’s asking for, and what you’re hoping to leave feeling.
How do you keep me comfortable face down with a bump
This is the part most mothers worry about, and it’s the part we love most. Our pregnancy bolster cradles your bump completely, so you can lie face down through the second and third trimesters with no pressure on your belly. Most mothers tear up the first time, in a good way. Your spine finally gets the work it’s been asking for.
What's the difference between prenatal and postnatal massage at Atma?
Prenatal sessions support your body while baby’s still on board, with positioning, pressure and pacing all built around your pregnancy. Postnatal massage is its own focused service, working on the recovery your body needs after birth, including lymphatic drainage, abdominal recovery and rebuilding through the pelvis and lower back.
How often should I come during pregnancy?
Most mothers come fortnightly through the second trimester and weekly in the third. If you’re in your first pregnancy and unsure, start with one session, and your therapist will give you an honest, no-pressure read on what your body might benefit from.
What should I wear to my prenatal massage appointment?
Wear whatever feels most comfortable for you. You will be draped with sheets throughout the session for warmth and privacy, with only the area being treated uncovered at any time. Many clients wear underwear and remove other clothing, but your comfort and privacy always come first. There is absolutely no pressure to undress beyond what feels right for you.
What about after baby arrives – when can I return?
Postnatal massage is wonderful for recovery, but timing depends on your birth experience. For uncomplicated vaginal delivery, gentle massage can start around 6 weeks. C-section recovery typically needs 10-12 weeks. We modify techniques to avoid tender areas and can even accommodate breastfeeding needs. Postnatal massage helps with feeding postures, carrying positions, sleep deprivation tension, and emotional adjustment. Many new mums say it’s their essential self-care.
