Pregnancy Massage
Carrying a little miracle shouldn’t mean carrying constant discomfort. Our specialised pregnancy massage eases back pain, reduces swelling, and gives you the restful moments you deserve during this incredible journey.
No more sleepless nights from hip pain. No more swollen ankles that won’t settle. No more feeling like you have to “just deal with it” until baby arrives. Our pregnancy massage is your permission to feel comfortable again.

At Atma Wellbeing, we specialise in prenatal and postnatal massage treatments thoughtfully tailored to the unique needs of mothers-to-be and new mums. Our method, refined through years of expertise, is designed to gently ease discomfort, reduce swelling, and restore natural balance to your body during this transformative journey.
Your body is doing something miraculous right now. It’s also working harder than ever before. As your little one grows, your centre of gravity shifts, ligaments soften, blood volume increases by 50%, and every system in your body adapts. No wonder you’re feeling it.
Our pregnancy massage works with these changes, not against them. We use specially designed positioning that keeps you comfortable – no lying flat on your back or squishing your bump. Side-lying with full support means you can actually relax instead of worrying about position. Our techniques are adapted for each trimester, addressing the specific challenges you’re facing right now. Second trimester back pain? We know exactly which muscles are overworking. Third trimester swelling and insomnia? Our lymphatic work provides real relief. This is pregnancy care that understands what you’re going through: safe for baby, transformative for you, and honestly, the self-care you absolutely deserve right now. Book an appointment today.

At Atma Wellbeing in Dee Why, pregnancy massage isn’t an afterthought – it’s a cornerstone of our practice, refined through sixteen years of supporting mothers through pregnancy, birth, and beyond.
What makes our pregnancy massage different from other clinics in Sydney? It starts with genuine expertise. Our founder Saura’s physiotherapy background means we understand the anatomical changes happening in your body. We know why your back hurts at 20 weeks versus 35 weeks. We understand how hormonal changes affect your muscles and ligaments. Most importantly, we know exactly what’s safe and what’s not during each trimester.
Located conveniently in Dee Why at the Meriton Retail Precinct, we’ve become the go-to pregnancy massage clinic for the Northern Beaches. Expecting mothers travel from Manly or Avalon because word spreads – when you find something that actually helps during pregnancy, you tell every pregnant friend you have.
Whether you’re navigating first-trimester exhaustion, second-trimester aches, third-trimester everything, or those intense early weeks postpartum, our pregnancy massage gives you something precious: moments of genuine comfort during an intense time. Not just temporary relief, but skilled care that supports your body through one of life’s biggest transformations.
Our frequently asked questions
Is pregnancy massage really safe during all trimesters?
Yes, pregnancy massage is considered safe in all trimesters.
However at Atma Wellbeing, your safety and wellbeing are our top priority. Because the first trimester of pregnancy is a delicate time with a higher risk of miscarriage, we choose to pause pregnancy massage during these early weeks as a precaution. This allows us to provide the safest care possible for both you and your baby.
From the second trimester onwards, we warmly welcome you to enjoy our specialised pregnancy massage treatments designed to nurture and support your changing body throughout your pregnancy journey.
When should I start pregnancy massage and how often should I come?
You can start as soon as you know you’re pregnant, though many women wait until after 12 weeks simply for peace of mind. In the first trimester, monthly sessions work well for general wellbeing. Second trimester often benefits from fortnightly sessions as your body changes rapidly. Third trimester mums often love weekly sessions for managing increased discomfort. After birth, we recommend waiting 6 weeks for vaginal delivery or 10-12 weeks for caesarean, though gentle techniques can start earlier with medical clearance.
What is pregnancy massage, and what are its benefits?
Pregnancy massage, or prenatal or maternity massage, is specially tailored to accommodate the changes a woman’s body undergoes during pregnancy. Unlike regular massage, pregnancy massage focuses on alleviating pregnancy-specific discomforts such as back pain, leg cramps and swelling.
Can pregnancy massage help with my swollen feet and ankles?
Absolutely. Swelling (oedema) is one of the most common pregnancy complaints we treat. Our gentle lymphatic drainage techniques help your body process excess fluid more effectively. We work from your feet upward, encouraging fluid to move through your lymphatic system. Many clients see visible reduction in swelling immediately after their session. While some swelling is normal in pregnancy, massage can significantly improve comfort and mobility.
Will pregnancy massage help me sleep better?
Most clients report sleeping better after their sessions. Pregnancy massage helps in several ways: it reduces physical discomfort that keeps you awake, calms your nervous system making it easier to fall asleep, and teaches you comfortable positioning techniques you can use at home. We can also show you partner massage techniques for those restless nights. Remember, good sleep during pregnancy isn’t luxury – it’s essential for you and baby.
I'm having terrible sciatic pain. Can you help?
Sciatic pain during pregnancy is incredibly common and yes, we can help. As your uterus grows, it can press on the sciatic nerve. Combined with postural changes and the hormone relaxin loosening your ligaments, it’s a perfect storm for nerve pain. Our targeted techniques release the specific muscles involved (particularly the piriformis), ease pressure on the nerve, and provide strategies for managing pain between sessions. Many clients find significant relief.
What about morning sickness – will massage make it worse?
Actually, gentle pregnancy massage can help with nausea. We adjust our techniques for first-trimester clients, using lighter pressure and avoiding any movements that might trigger nausea. Some acupressure points can specifically help with morning sickness. We keep sessions shorter if needed and ensure you’re comfortable throughout. Many clients find the relaxation helps reduce nausea intensity.
Can I have pregnancy massage if I'm high risk?
This depends on your specific situation. We always recommend checking with your healthcare provider first. Some high-risk conditions are fine with modified massage, others require us to wait. Conditions like placenta previa, pre-eclampsia, or risk of premature labour need medical clearance. We’re happy to speak with your doctor or midwife about what’s safe for your situation. Your safety and baby’s wellbeing always come first.
What's the difference between prenatal and regular massage?
Everything, really. Pregnancy massage requires specialised training to understand what’s safe during each trimester. We avoid certain pressure points, use different positioning, modify pressure for your comfort, and focus on pregnancy-specific issues. Our therapists understand the anatomical and hormonal changes you’re experiencing. Regular massage therapists might mean well, but without proper training, they might use techniques that aren’t appropriate during pregnancy.
Can massage help prepare me for labour?
While we don’t induce labour (and avoid any techniques that might), pregnancy massage helps prepare your body in other ways. Regular massage keeps your muscles flexible and relaxed, teaches you breathing and relaxation techniques useful during labour, and helps you connect with your body. Many clients say learning to relax during massage helped them manage labour contractions better. We can also teach your birth partner some comfort techniques for labour day.
What about after baby arrives – when can I return?
Postnatal massage is wonderful for recovery, but timing depends on your birth experience. For uncomplicated vaginal delivery, gentle massage can start around 6 weeks. C-section recovery typically needs 10-12 weeks. We modify techniques to avoid tender areas and can even accommodate breastfeeding needs. Postnatal massage helps with feeding postures, carrying positions, sleep deprivation tension, and emotional adjustment. Many new mums say it’s their essential self-care.
Do you have special pregnancy massage packages?
Yes! We offer trimester packages that provide regular support throughout your pregnancy at a reduced rate. Our “Nurture and Restore” gift certificates are perfect baby shower presents. Many partners purchase packages as push presents. Regular sessions throughout pregnancy provide cumulative benefits – consistent care means we can address issues before they become major problems.
